Reservoir Pressure Guidelines for Gas Injection EOR
How Pressure Drop Affects GCEOR Efficiency in Tight Reservoirs
This paper offers practical pressure guidelines for Gas Cycling Enhanced Oil Recovery (GCEOR) design, based on a large experimental dataset. Conducted on volatile oil and condensate cores from the Montney, the study simulates field-scale injection scenarios to show how starting reservoir pressure and pressure drop over time impact EOR effectiveness. Results highlight that certain formations benefit most from early gas injection and minimal pressure drawdown—crucial for achieving economic recovery.
