AGAT Laboratories is pleased to announce the appointment of Denise Abramenko as Health and Safety Manager.
In this role, Denise will be responsible for strengthening AGAT’s health and safety programs, supporting regulatory compliance, and promoting consistent safety practices across our laboratories and operations. She will work closely with operational leaders, managers and employees to identify workplace risks, improve safety performance and ensure that health and safety remains an integral part of how we operate.
Denise brings more than 20 years of health, safety and operational leadership experience across commercial, industrial and multi-site operations in Western Canada. Throughout her career, she has led safety programs, workplace inspections, audits, incident investigations, emergency response planning and corrective-action initiatives. She has also worked extensively with employees, contractors, supervisors and senior management to improve compliance and support safe, effective operations.
Most recently, Denise served as a Senior Safety Specialist with EHS Partnerships Ltd., where she worked closely with operational teams, supervisors and contractors to maintain compliance with corporate safety standards and legislative requirements. She led the implementation and continuous improvement of safety programs, emergency response plans and hazard-assessment processes, while also conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
Denise’s previous leadership experience includes serving as Safety Manager with Western Belting, Safety Consultant and Team Lead with Prime Essential, Safety Consultant with DCC Safety Consulting, and Corporate Team Lead and HSE Field Advisor with Tervita Corporation. These positions have provided her with extensive experience in operational compliance, team leadership, field safety, contractor management and continuous improvement.
A particular strength Denise brings to AGAT is her practical and collaborative approach to health and safety. She understands that strong safety performance is achieved by working directly with employees and operational teams, identifying risks early, following through on corrective actions and developing solutions that are both effective and practical. Her experience coaching teams in hazard recognition, safe-work planning and incident prevention will support AGAT’s continued commitment to providing safe and responsible workplaces.
Denise is a National Construction Safety Officer and holds certifications as an ACSA Internal Auditor, AASP Internal Auditor, WHMIS Instructor, and in First Aid, CPR-C and AED. She is also working toward her Canadian Registered Safety Technician designation.
