AGAT Labs Tempe is Now Licensed to Perform PFAS Analysis Locally in Arizona, Making It the Only Local Provider

TEMPE, June 15, 2026 — AGAT Laboratories in Tempe, Arizona is now licenced by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) to perform per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) analysis.

Based on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) methods, AGAT Labs’ Tempe laboratory conducts PFAS analysis for safe drinking water, wastewater, and hazardous waste with methods EPA 533, EPA 537.1, and EPA 1633.

Building upon AGAT Labs’ extensive experience working with PFAS in other laboratories, they are now licenced to perform PFAS analysis locally in Tempe, making them the only local provider of these specific testing methods in the state.

“This is a big milestone for our Tempe location as PFAS analysis is in increasing demand in Arizona due to it’s impacts to the environment,” says Kelly Nelson, Director of Operations, AGAT Labs Arizona. “We can now provide results to a critical test in shorter turnaround times enabling our customers to have the information needed to move forward with their projects sooner.”

Turnaround time for PFAS analysis conducted at the Tempe lab is seven to 10 days.

This expansion of services in Tempe comes after previous ADHS licensing to perform other various analyte for safe drinking water, wastewater, and hazardous waste.

AGAT Labs Arizona is committed to build upon a 45-year legacy in analytical science by expanding their testing services locally to continue to help industries maintain environmental compliance and sustainability.

“Our 45 plus years of scientific experience allows us to perform analysis locally in leading turnaround times,” says Nelson. “At AGAT Labs, we are committed to collaborate towards obtaining the most reliable, useful data and supporting clients with the simplicity of working with a single analytical partner for entire project lifecycles in many cases.”

AGAT Labs Tempe is currently working with environmental consultants and firms responsible for soil and water testing related to remediation and municipal compliance.

Considered a leader in analysis of “forever chemicals”, AGAT Labs also researches PFAS in their specialty chemistry lab in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Research on its effects in high-exposure occupations such as those in firefighting, manufacturing, and other industrial industries has been led and documented by scientists at AGAT. A study with the Calgary Fire Department looked at chemical levels in firefighters and canines to explore possible risks associated with occupational exposure. The case study is available for download at agatlabs.com/initiatives/white-papers/pfas-occupational-exposure.
