AGAT Laboratories has developed a carbon capture management mapping and information tool which provides insights into carbon capture and sequestration (CCS), and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) facilities and hubs across Alberta. The tool is now available for existing clients.
Built in Mapme, the AGAT Laboratories Carbon Management Hub leverages data points collected from various sources. Over 2,800 publicly available documents are used to extract analytical, wireline, and geological data, more than 30 CCS/CCUS facilities, hubs, and refineries, as well as CO² injection and Clive Field EOR well locations.
“This platform brings together all the critical information required when planning a CCS/CCUS project,” says Graham Spray, Chief Technology Officer, AGAT Laboratories. “We’re encouraged by early testing and feedback that the interactive map and accompanying documentation is supporting improved workflows throughout the planning process.”
Users can filter hundreds of data points by facilities, hubs, and wells on the interactive map interface, while a mobile-friendly experience allows decision-makers to explore data on-site and on-the-go.
The tool also collects over 50 documents related to regulatory guidelines and analytical standards for CCS/CCUS projects in Alberta. Industry news ranging from corporate press releases to new government initiatives are also included, making it the only tool available that collects all this information in one location.
Paired with AGAT’s carbon management services and their extensive knowledge of government regulations regarding carbon capture, they solidify their position as an end-to-end partner for CCS/CCUS projects.
“Part of the culture at AGAT is centred around our mission, Service Beyond Analysis,” says Spray. “This tool is part of a larger strategy to support our clients beyond the lab, while also providing expertise in specific areas where there is an increased demand.
“We’re still seeing a rapidly evolving energy landscape. And this is another effort to help our clients stay ahead.”
Typical client users such as engineers, geologists, and developers can make use of the AGAT Laboratories Carbon Management Hub from discovery to implementation — while leveraging carbon capture services such as site assessments, subsurface characterization, monitoring, and more.
Future updates are planned to increase the scope of information outside of Alberta into B.C. and beyond.
