Soil Profiling
Monitoring soil characteristics can have a large effect on the successful growth of your crops. The identification of contaminants, nutrients, acidity, salinity and pesticides are key factors in soil management. Our environmental chemistry services can assist you in detecting these variables and in making informed decisions on crop selection and methods to increase the soil quality on your land for maximum nutrient output.
AGAT Laboratories’ agricultural professionals are available to assist you in developing a soil monitoring program and for recommending the best analytical packages for your type of operation.

Water Analysis
AGAT Laboratories offers complete water analysis packages for drinking water, irrigation, spray water, groundwater, surface water and waste water. Our laboratories provide high quality analysis for the identification of chemical, microbiological, toxicology and the physical characteristics of water. Water monitoring of ground water wells and drinking water is important in protecting the health and safety of both humans and livestock. Water classification is also key in water management systems for waste water and crop utilization.

Feed Testing
Through our Food Testing Division, AGAT Laboratories can identify all components in feed to assist you in making the best decisions possible when selecting the feed types for your animals.
We have the ability to conduct analysis on feed for the following:
- Identification of contaminants
- Medical additives
- Nutrients
- Vitamins
- Fiber content
- Fat content
Feed analysis can help you protect the health of your livestock and can assist in making sure your livestock and crops are safe for human consumption. Feed can be scanned for harmful heavy metals which can remain in the animal’s tissue over time and for bioaccumulation which can cause health concerns to both livestock and humans.
Additionally, monitoring the vitamin and nutrients of your feed can ensure you are providing your animals with the best product possible for the promotion of growth in your livestock. Some feed components may also contain additives or antibiotics that are beneficial to some animal species but could be harmful to others. Analyzing feed for these parameters can help you protect your investment.
Through our Specialty Analysis and Ultra-Trace Toxicology divisions, AGAT Laboratories has the capability for testing trace levels of harmful toxins such as PCBs, PAHs and antibiotics in animal tissue, milk and urine.
Our feed analysis services include:
- Microbiology
- Total Fat
- Acidity
- Moisture
- Sugars
- Caloric value
- Vitamin content
- Protein content
- Cholesterol
- Density
- Dietetic fibers
- Nitrites
- Metals scan
- pH
- Phosphates
- Antibiotics
- PCBs
- PAHs
Food Production Analysis
Our food chemistry laboratory provides information concerning the composition of products necessary to industries that must conform to regulations on packaging and labelling of products for consumers. Many of our clients are mandated by the Food and Drug Act and the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act to ensure their products include a specific list of nutritional facts on product labels in a pre-defined format.
As a part of our food chemistry services, we are able to offer you an accurate sample of a Health Canada approved Nutrition Facts Table. These labelling and formatting requirements can be provided for both Canadian an
d American food products.
Our food chemistry and nutritional labelling capabilities include:
- Calories
- Fatty acids and lipid profiles
- Cholesterol
- Sodium
- Potassium
- Dietary fibres and sugars
- Proteins
- Vitamin A
- Vitamin C
- Calcium
- Iron
- Heavy metals
- Additives, preservatives and other added ingredients
